Singing School

Read the first chapter of Singing School.

Singing School is a work in progress: a novel about a group of law students in Los Angeles. The main characters are Noah, a poet and former punk rocker, and Maggie, an aspiring law professor. Their friends include

- Rachel, a binge-drinking Hasidic Jew, and Ann, her born-again Christian girlfriend

- Tha, a Burmese refugee who surfs, rock-climbs, and carries a gun

- Rocco, who becomes a star with his parodies of white, wannabe rappers, only to succumb to crack cocaine himself.

The title comes from an autobiographical poem by Seamus Heaney, who in turn got it from Yeats.
